I love a good cranky bird, and these tawny frogmouths tend to have RCF (resting cranky face!) This was a fun colour study of a tawny, an experiment really, aiming to capture the crazy texture and patterns of their beautiful feathers.
 
This is a 12 x 12 inch ink on scratchboard, varnished with several coats of non-yellowing, archival, U.V resistant varnish and finished in a timber frame without glass (37 x 37 cms).
